The Precision Disposal Difference

A Day In The Life

Below are a collection of experiences our operators and owners have experienced throughout our years of experience across multiple markets, jobsites and general situations.

These challenging circumstances have undoubtedly contributed to our growth and preparedness, ultimately benefiting our customers and clients. When faced with similar scenarios, we are now better equipped than ever to expertly execute and deliver top-notch service.

"One of the most challenging experiences I can vividly recall was the day we found ourselves facing an unexpected bent axle issue that necessitated a complete bearing replacement. This incident unfolded in the back parking lot of a Walmart store in Stuart, Florida, following a demanding pick-up job in the Mariner Sands area.

As I made my way back from that challenging assignment, I couldn't help but notice a slight wobble in the rear wheel of the trailer I was towing. Determined to find a safe spot to pull over, I eventually opted for the parking lot behind the Walmart store.

Upon closer inspection, it became evident that the trailer wouldn't be able to continue its journey without immediate attention. With a fully loaded dumpster on the trailer, there was simply no alternative but to undertake the repair right there and then. Fortunately, our truck was equipped with all the necessary tools to tackle the job. We secured the wheels of both the truck and the trailer and proceeded to disassemble the components. What we encountered next was far from pleasant.

The outer bearing had fused itself onto the hub, presenting us with a major challenge. To proceed, we had no option but to grind off the fused parts. With safety goggles and gloves in place, we began the arduous task of carefully grinding away the stubborn, fused bearing. It was at this critical juncture that I realized we didn't have the right replacement bearing on hand! In a moment of urgency, I reached out to Britney, who was approximately 40 minutes away, on the verge of needing to pick up our children from school. Despite the time constraints and the pressing need for parts from our office, she immediately sprang into action.

Britney swiftly got into her car and made her way to the parking lot where I was working tirelessly to resolve the issue. She not only delivered the crucial parts but also brought along a warm, comforting lunch from our favorite local pizza joint.

Within a mere 10 minutes of her arrival, I had successfully reassembled the trailer with the correct components, ready to hit the road once more. Despite the unexpected setback, we had only lost about 1.5 hours of precious time. More importantly, our clients remained entirely unaffected by the ordeal.

This episode served as a powerful testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering the best possible service to our clients. It compelled us to make on-the-spot repairs in the field, avoiding the need to call for a tow truck. To this day, we continue to uphold that same commitment, although now, with a more comprehensive inventory of equipment at our disposal, our situations are not as dire as they once were."

"In early 2023, I found myself presented with a unique opportunity to join the ranks of Precision Disposal, a rapidly growing and highly professional company owned and operated by Nicholas Bennett. This decision marked a significant shift in my career path, and little did I know that it would lead me to one of the most challenging and impactful experiences of my life.

Fast forward to July of the same year, and Montpelier, Vermont, was grappling with one of the most devastating floods it had seen in the past two decades. The city lay in ruins, and its residents were facing an overwhelming disaster. In the midst of this crisis, Precision Disposal received a call for assistance in the monumental task of cleaning up and restoring the city to its former glory.

We didn't hesitate. Our team swiftly mobilized, transporting a fleet of dumpsters to Vermont, ready to face the immense cleanup challenge that lay ahead. Collaborating closely with ServPro, we embarked on an arduous mission that would span the better part of July. Together, we worked tirelessly to restore Montpelier, offering our support and services to the community in its time of dire need.

Being thrust into the heart of a disaster relief zone was an experience unlike any other in my career. It was a profound test of our abilities and a true trial by fire. The environment was often characterized by stress, chaos, and an intricate web of moving parts. Communication was the linchpin that held everything together, but it was also the most significant challenge we faced. Coordinating efforts between various contractors, the local community, and the governing municipality overseeing the disaster response proved to be a formidable task.

Yet, amid the chaos and adversity, we never lost sight of our ultimate goal: to get the job done and help the city of Montpelier rebuild. Our commitment to this objective fueled our determination and resilience. We navigated through the challenges, adapting to the ever-changing circumstances of a disaster zone, and worked tirelessly to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected.

In the end, this experience not only tested our mental toughness and capacity as individuals, a team and a company, but also solidified our dedication to providing essential services in times of crisis. It was a powerful reminder of the significance of our work and the role we play in helping communities recover and rebuild after disaster strikes."

"My journey in the waste disposal industry has been a profound learning experience, marked by numerous challenging pick-ups and deliveries. From my early days working in Fort Myers after a hurricane, I encountered a wide array of demanding scenarios that tested my skills and resilience. These experiences have not only expanded my knowledge but have also allowed me to build lasting relationships with our valued customers.

One of the most unforgettable aspects of my work in Fort Myers was dealing with overloaded dumpsters, jackknife deliveries, and the transport of heavy materials such as roof tiles, shingles, and drywall. These situations required a combination of precision, patience, and teamwork to navigate safely and efficiently. I owe much of my success to the invaluable guidance and support of my fellow team members, who provided crucial advice and encouragement during these tricky maneuvers.

Among the most challenging tasks I've encountered is the process of swapping out a tile load. This intricate operation involves carefully placing an empty dumpster in position to pick up an extremely heavy tile-loaded dumpster, setting it down safely, and then repeating the process with the empty dumpster. Finally, we retrieve the full tile-loaded dumpster once more. The sheer weight of these dumpsters makes this process both physically demanding and time-consuming.

Despite the difficulties, mastering these maneuvers has been immensely rewarding. It's a testament to our commitment to providing efficient and reliable service to our customers. Each successful tile load swap not only demonstrates our dedication to safety but also ensures that our customers can rely on us for their waste disposal needs, even when dealing with heavy and challenging materials.

In conclusion, my journey in the waste disposal industry has been a continuous learning curve, characterized by demanding scenarios that have pushed me to grow both professionally and personally. Building relationships with our customers, overcoming challenging deliveries, and perfecting complex maneuvers like tile load swaps have all contributed to my development in this field. It's these experiences that make every day on the job unique and fulfilling, and I'm proud to be part of a team that consistently rises to meet these challenges head-on."
