Dumpster Rental or Junk Removal

Nick Bennett • December 31, 2022

The great debate, Junk Removal or Dumpster Rental, luckily, we do both!

Precision Disposal offers both Dumpster Rentals and Junk Removal at most locations. Often times junk removal service providers show up with a 10-14 yard truck, making large junk removal jobs more expensive due to multiple trips, but Precision can offer you the same dumpster, and the help to load it if desired

In any event, here are some key factors when considering what type of service you need, and who should provide it

There are a few reasons you might consider renting a dumpster instead of using a junk removal service:

  1. Cost: Renting a dumpster can often be more cost-effective than hiring a junk removal service, especially if you have a large amount of debris to dispose of.
  2. Convenience: With a dumpster, you can simply fill it up at your own pace, rather than trying to schedule a pickup with a junk removal service.
  3. Flexibility: Dumpsters are available in a range of sizes, so you can choose the one that best fits your needs. This can be particularly useful if you're unsure how much junk you'll need to dispose of.
  4. Control: With a dumpster, you have more control over what gets disposed of and when. This can be especially useful if you're working on a construction or renovation project and need to dispose of materials on your own schedule.

However, there are also some potential downsides to consider when deciding between a dumpster and a junk removal service:

  1. Time: Filling up a dumpster can be time-consuming, especially if you have a lot of debris to dispose of.
  2. Physical labor: Renting a dumpster may require some heavy lifting and physical labor, which may not be suitable for everyone.
  3. Environmental concerns: Depending on your local regulations, there may be certain items that cannot be placed in a dumpster, such as hazardous materials. A junk removal service may be better equipped to handle these items safely.

There are a few situations in which it may make more sense to rent a dumpster rather than hire a junk removal service:

  1. You have a large volume of debris: If you have a large volume of debris that needs to be disposed of, such as from a home renovation or construction project, it may be more cost-effective to rent a dumpster rather than paying for a junk removal service to make multiple trips.
  2. You need to dispose of heavy or awkward items: Some junk removal companies have weight limits or may not be equipped to handle certain types of items, such as appliances or heavy construction debris. Renting a dumpster allows you to dispose of these items on your own schedule.
  3. You need to dispose of hazardous materials: Many junk removal companies are not equipped to handle hazardous materials, such as chemicals or asbestos. Renting a dumpster may be the safest option for disposing of these materials.
  4. You need to dispose of items over an extended period of time: If you need to dispose of items over an extended period of time, such as during a lengthy home renovation project, it may be more convenient to rent a dumpster and dispose of items as you go rather than scheduling multiple pickups with a junk removal service.

Overall, whether it makes more sense to rent a dumpster or hire a junk removal service will depend on your specific needs and circumstances. It may be helpful to compare the cost and convenience of both options before making a decision.

There are a few factors to consider when deciding whether to hire a junk removal service or to rent a dumpster and load it yourself:

  1. The amount of junk: If you have a large amount of junk that would fill a dumpster, it may be more cost-effective to rent a dumpster and load it yourself. However, if you only have a small amount of junk, it may be more convenient and cost-effective to hire a junk removal service.
  2. The type of junk: If you have heavy or awkwardly shaped items that may be difficult to load into a dumpster, it may be more efficient to hire a junk removal service.
  3. The location of the junk: If the junk is located in an area that is difficult to access with a dumpster, such as a narrow driveway or on a steep slope, it may be easier to hire a junk removal service.
  4. Your physical ability and or if you have or need help is probably the biggest deciding factor: If you are physically unable to load a dumpster or if you do not have the necessary equipment for heavy items, to move the junk, it may be better to hire a junk removal service.
  5. Your time: If you do not have the time or the desire to load a dumpster yourself, it may be more convenient to hire a junk removal service, but also if the job needs to be done in a very short amount of time, you may want the help to get it done in a couple of hours or less.

Overall, it is a good idea to consider all of these factors and compare the costs and convenience of both options before making a decision.

The biggest benefit to using Precision Disposal for either your Junk Removal or Dumpster Rental, is that we have the dumpsters available, and we use them to load as well, making junk removal a bit more cost effective than the competition, in the end, if it boiled down to budget, a dumpster rental will be the least expensive 9/10 times because you are not paying for labor to load it, outside of your friends and family of course.
